I sit and I listen to the waves
Quietly rippling upon the shore,
I watch the clouds drift gently by
And I hear the gentle breeze
And I dream, as if I was alone
The birds and gulls rise and fall on the wind
As they dive toward the sea.
The trees rustle in the breeze
And the sun smiles on the flowers
And I dream, as if I was alone
I look all around and marvel at nature,
Crabs scurrying by me
The sand shifting and whispering in the wind.
The distant sounds of life all around me
And I dream, as if I were alone
Some distant place where I shelter in the dunes
And dream of being free
Then, with cruel awakening – reality.
Aware of cars, voices and children playing
Which spoils the stillness around me
And I am not alone
